Introduction

The Cloud Pak for Data (CPD) partner onboarding program provides a defined process for an ISV, with help from the CP4D Partner Onboarding Ecosystem team, to make their offering available to CP4D customers.
Note: The Hybrid Cloud Partner Onboarding Guide complements this guide by providing additional onboarding guidance at the Cloud Pak level. The guide includes Go To Market (GTM) information as well as details on how to request and sign up for Red Hat and IBM Partnerworld accounts.

What is a CP4D ISV?

An Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partner working with CP4D to build solutions that work "better together." These solutions can be add-ons, industry accelerators, datasets, or onboarded as IBM products.
These partner offerings help us bridge technological integration gaps existing within Cloud Pak for Data.
There are three types of partnerships: Cosell, Resell, and OEM. Each offers different levels of integration with CP4D, different value propositions, and different go-to-market approaches.

Cosell

  • Focus is on establishing Partner offerings (software or services) as part of the CPD partner ecosystem – with validated integration to CPD services
  • Partner’s UX can be independent and services can run outside of CPD cluster
  • OpenShift certification is recommended only if the offering already runs on OpenShift or is in a CPD cluster
  • Partner sells their parts, IBM supports
  • Drives additional CPD and ecosystem use

Resell

  • Focus is on establishing Partner software offerings as part of the CPD partner ecosystem – with validated & expanded integration to CPD services
  • Enhances experience & value for CPD & Partner offering users directly or in combination with partner UX
  • Partner services run in the CPD cluster and are OpenShift certified
  • Partner & IBM sell together (includes partial IBM Seller incentives)
  • Drives additional CPD and ecosystem use

OEM

  • Focus is on establishing Partner software essentially as an IBM offering
  • Deeper integration with CPD services, connections and UX
  • Partner services run in the CPD cluster and are OpenShift certified
  • Partner & IBM sell together (includes full IBM Seller incentives)
  • Drives additional CPD and ecosystem use
