Onboarding Process

For All Partners

  1. 1.
The confirmed offering will be reviewed and a request to approve to onboard will be made at a CPD Offering Management Meeting (MMT). Figure 1 step 3.
  2. 2.
Once approved, the Partner Ecosystem or Offering Manager will notify the partner that their solution has been accepted to onboard.
  3. 3.
The CPD Partner Ecosystem Leads will review the Partner offering to determine the relationship type (Cosell, Resell, OEM) and integration level (L0, L1).
  4. 4.
Figure 1 step 4 starts the formal onboarding process.

For the Solution Provider Partners (Delivering applications on OpenShift and Cloud Pak for Data)

  1. 1.
Read the Service Integration section of this guide to learn if there are other integration requirements for your selected partner type and integration level.
  2. 2.
If your solution will be deployed within the OpenShift cluster and Cloud Pak for Data project/namespace, then you should aim for your application to be containerized and OpenShift certified. Follow the RHOS Security Certification process to achieve this certification.
  3. 3.
Upload your logo, screenshots, and content using the "Update Information" button on the integration page. These artifacts will be reviewed by CPD's Content and Design team and used for your display tile to highlight your offering on the Cloud Pak for Data Partner Marketplace Application.
  4. 4.
As part of the "Update Information" process you will be required to provide two links for your users:
    • A Product URL that provides additional information on your product such as usage documentation or tutorials.
    • A Deployment URL. Read the help document "CPD User Deployment Template" for information and guidelines on how to structure these deployment instructions.
  5. 5.
Track your progress with the "Progress Tracker" button on the integration screen and complete the checklist (Figure 1 step 5). This will help us determine your completion status. The CPD team will review the offering deployment documentation at the end of the delivery cycle.

For the Dataset Provider Partners (Delivering data for use on Cloud Pak for Data)

  1. 1.
Read appendix "Data Provider Integration" to select the dataset flow you will use to deliver your data to the CPD customer.
  2. 2.
Upload your logo, screenshots, and content under the "Update Information" button on the integration page. These artifacts will be reviewed by CPD's Content and Design team and used for your display tile to highlight your offering on the Cloud Pak for Data Partner Marketplace Application.
  3. 3.
As part of the "Update Information" process you will be required to provide two links for your users
    • A Product URL that will provide additional information on your product such as user documentation or tutorials.
    • A Deployment URL. Read the appendix "Dataset Deployment for CPD on OpenShift" for more information and guidelines on how to structure these deployment instructions.

Infrastructure

Partners will need a CPD installation to test the offering and to provide enablement material (e.g., screen capture, videos). See the Hybrid Cloud Partner Onboarding Guide for additional requirements.
Note: The CPD onboarding team is piloting a program to provide short-term-use clusters with RHOS, CPD and base IBM CPD add-ons installed. These clusters are being provided for partners to gain initial hands-on experience with CPD, test the installation of their add-on, and to validate their offering's documentation and links. Contact the Onboarding and Integration focal or the Partner Ecosystem team for details.

IBM Provided CPD cluster

The availability of the CPD-provided cluster is offered as a short-term ‘getting started’ option and for validation purposes prior to release of the offering. A partner, especially a resell or OEM partner, should acquire a working CP4D environment as part of their own infrastructure. This will be needed for: ongoing development, testing new features being added to the offering, and validating new RHOS and CP4D offerings as they are released.

Bring Your Own Infrastructure (BYOI) Instructions

Some partners will need to provide their own infrastructure which includes installing Red Hat OpenShift and Cloud Pak for Data. An engineer with a technical background in OpenShift or Kubernetes deployments will be required to complete this activity.

Download and Install Red Hat OpenShift

Red Hat OpenShift (RHOS) is required for the installation of IBM Cloud Pak for Data. To create a Red Hat account and download the software at no charge, join Red Hat's Partner Connect program https://connect.redhat.com/ and follow Red Hat's software access instructions (https://www.ibm.com/partnerworld/program/benefits/red-hat-software-request-process). Lastly, follow the Red Hat Container Platform documentation to install RHOS.

Download and Install Cloud Pak for Data

IBM Cloud Pak for Data is available for download through the IBM Software Access Catalog. Access to the catalog is through one of the IBM Partner Packages found in the IBM PartnerWorld Program. If required, work with your IBM Product Manager or the Partner Ecosystem team to obtain an IBM ID to join PartnerWorld.
See the Hybrid Cloud Partner Onboarding Guide for details on the PartnerWorld program.
CPD installation
  1. 1.
Once you sign up for one of the above programs, you can download the Cloud Pak for Data package.
  2. 2.
Get your Entitlement Key by following these instructions:
    1. 1.
Log in to the Container software library on My IBM with your Partner ID and password.
    2. 2.
On the Get entitlement key tab, select Copy key to copy the entitlement key to the clipboard.
    3. 3.
Save the entitlement key in a text file.
  3. 3.
Extract the .tgz file from step 1. Edit the repo.yaml and replace the API key with your entitlement key from step 2.
  4. 4.
Follow the installation doc in our Knowledge Center, being careful to select the correct CP4D version number in the "Change Version" field of the navigation bar on the left.

Offering Support

For OEM partner offerings with an IBM part number, customers will be expecting support through the IBM Support portal. Arrangements to support the partner offering will need to be made between the two companies' support organizations as part of the offering release. The goal is for the IBM CPD support team to handle the initial case triage and be part of the ongoing communications with the customer. The diagnosis, root cause determination, and case resolution will need to come from the partner’s support team.
